Baroc developed resource-planning application for Cobra Software AG, Switzerland. Cobra develops and markets healthcare applications.

The Problem

Cobra developed and marketed a resource planning application for hospitals to manage their infrastructure. The original application was DOS based. When they decided to port the application to the windows platform Cobra decided to use Baroc’s expertise in client server development. Baroc was expected to port the existing software and modify a lot of areas related to printing, data import/export, graphical view etc.

Desired features

  • Easy and user friendly interface which follows the standard windows GUI practices
  • Planning for usage of resources
  • Registration of resource usage
  • Patient registration
  • Admission/dismissal and relocation of admitted patients
  • Doctor reservation
  • Correspondence and other report printing
  • Graphical view of operation theaters and bed allocation
  • Day clinic functionality
  • Communication with other administrative systems in hospitals
  • Ability to run communication software as a NT service
  • Ability to display user interface in multiple languages (e.g. German, French and English)
  • Master data management
Tools and Technologies used

The system is developed using Visual C++ and Visual Basic for front-end, MS Word and Excel for reporting. HTML/ASP for showing the graphics view in the browser. The backend database is Microsoft SQL Server.

Tools: SQL Server 7.0, VB, VC++, ASP, Automation with Excel and Word for reports generation.

Solution

Baroc performed a comprehensive scope study to clearly understand the need of COBRA Software. This led to designing and developing a scalable and robust client server solution. Baroc developed a application that delivered the required functionality. The software is running in more than 13 hospitals in Switzerland.
