The Problem
Corona developed and marketed a hospital administration system, which is an end-to-end solution as far as patient administration is concerned. Baroc has ported their existing DOS based application and added a whole lot of features taking advantage of the windows GUI. The software can be used in a variety of healthcare establishments like small to large hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, and health resorts and even by general practitioners. Most other software’s are concentrating either on administrative data or medical data. MISA+ was created in 1998 and thereafter updated to increase its functionality. The main aim of MISA+ is to deal with administrative and medical data inside one system so that unnecessary redundant data entry and data storing can be prevented to increase acceptance, reduce costs and improve data quality. The software has a built-in graphical tool for viewing appointments of doctors and other resources in the hospital.
Desired features
The system is developed using Visual Basic for front-end, MS Word, Excel, Access for reporting. The backend database is Microsoft SQL Server.
Tools: SQL Server 7.0, VB, Automation with Excel, Word & Access for reports generation, ImagetKit for viewing images/scanning.
Baroc performed a comprehensive scope study to clearly understand the need of COBRA Software. This led to designing and developing a scalable and robust client server solution. Baroc is presently developing this application using the ‘on-going model’ of costing. The software is deployed in a lot of hospitals in Switzerland. In the following pages, some screen shots are provided to get an idea of the system. Detailed information is beyond the scope of this case study.
